Meet Jack Simkin
The Northampton District Agricultural Society is pleased to announce that Jack Simkin of Brimvale, Binnu, has been selected as its 2023 Rural Ambassador.
“There’s something special about growing up here that is hard to explain. We have a great community spirit here that goes into everything we do – all the sports clubs, all the volunteer groups, our local businesses and even things like the Northampton News and the show committee. That’s something that you just can’t get in the city,” says Jack.
Jack’s quite firm in his belief that a society is held up by discussion and democracy, and not by lack of consultation. He’s very engaged in current affairs, and feels strongly about issues affecting the local community and the broader WA social and political landscape.
Come and support Jack and the other ambassadors on Saturday 15th July, 6.30pm for the Mid West Group Final of the Rural Ambassador Award & Dinner.
The Competition
The Rural Ambassador competition is proudly supported by Harvest Road and coordinated by the Royal Agricultural Society of WA to recognise the contribution of young leaders who work to promote regional development. The competition has six heats held in regional areas (Coastal, Eastern, Mid West, Central, Great Southern and South West districts) with up to 63 agricultural societies across the State taking part in the competition.
